It is high time that I made my own portfolio website. I am currently doing a master's in mechanical engineering and am actively applying for roles in deep learning / machine learning. I have previously worked in this area and would call it my strongest technical skill for now which is why I want to work in the same field at the moment. However, companies while hiring are looking to hire students that have a CS background. I don't think formal coursework is the only way to show your experience in a field and learning things through online materials/project and tutorials in my opinion should be equally strong an indicator of a candidate's skill during hiring procedures.

My wish to start this website is twofold. Firstly, to display my past projects in deep learning/computer vision/ robotics etc. Secondly as a means to gather my thoughts and write about matters that I care about. I cannot entirely blame hiring managers for having a bias towards formal cousreworks through school because a one-page resume or a 20-minute conversation is not enough to show a person's entire personality and skillset. Let's see how this website works out for me.

Oh America! The land of the free*

Americans sure do love their freedom and rightfully so. The individualistic society allows every person to live life on their own terms....
